Sunday Serenades: Matinee Performances with Timeless Charm. From the smooth sounds of jazz to the grandeur of Classical Crossover and Broadway classics, this series invites you to enjoy an afternoon of elegant and exhilarating music.

Venezuelan harpist Eduardo Betancourt, percussionist Michael Ambroszewski, and bassist Kate Foss, principal bass of the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, will join talents in a blend of Venezuelan folk music, jazz, and classical influences.

Kate bio:

Kate Foss is a versatile bassist with a background in classical, musical theatre, and contemporary performance. Originally from the Midwest, she relocated to the East Coast to earning a Master of Music in Double Bass from the New England Conservatory.  She has performed internationally in Canada, Europe, and Asia and regularly appears with ensembles such as the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Odyssey Opera, Emmanuel Music, Cape Cod Symphony, and Plymouth Philharmonic, where she is principal bass. In musical theatre, she has worked with the American Repertory Theatre (SIX, Jagged Little Pill [substitute], The Black Clown, We Live in Cairo, ExtraOrdinary, 1776), Huntington Theatre (The Band’s Visit [substitute]), Ogunquit Playhouse (Mystic Pizza), and has been a substitute on the SIX Aragon & Boleyn and Jagged Little Pill tours. Beyond classical and theatre work, she has performed with artists such as The Eagles, Andrea Bocelli, and Plácido Domingo.

Mike bio:

Michael Ambroszewski, drummer and percussionist, performs throughout New England with a variety of ensembles encompassing many genres, including musical theatre, classical, and jazz. Michael has performed dozens of musical theatre productions in Boston, MA, Providence, RI,Worcester, MA, and at North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, MA. He performs with several New England orchestras, includingVista Philharmonic (Principal Percussion), Lexington Symphony Orchestra (Principal Percussion), Portland Symphony Orchestra, and Symphony New Hampshire. Michael’s career also includes extensive touring with the National Tours of the Broadway shows Annie, Cats, and Les Miserables, performing in over 100 cities throughout the United States and Canada. He has performed with artists such as

Aretha Franklin, Sid Caesar and Imogene Coca, Regis Philbin, Don Rickles, Bernadette Peters, and The Who.

Eduardo bio:

Eduardo Betancourt is a Venezuelan harpist, producer, arranger, composer, and multi-instrumentalist with 30 years of experience in traditional and Latin fusion music. A Latin Grammy winner for his work on Tesoros de la Música Venezolana by Ilan Chester, he has also been nominated twice at the Latin Grammy Awards and three times at the Pepsi Music Awards in Venezuela.

He has performed concerts and harp workshops in over 15 countries and collaborated with renowned artists such as Simón Díaz, Oscar D’León, Gilberto Santa Rosa, and Jorge Celedón. Eduardo has been a special guest at major international festivals in Paraguay, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Japan, Austria, South Africa, France, the U.S., and beyond.

Currently, he leads EduardoProject, collaborates with Venezuelan Project in Boston, and teaches at Harp School Online. His album AD LIBITUM explores new sounds with the CAMAC electric harp, blending tradition with contemporary innovation.
